Alan Kolakowski, 74, formerly of Swansea, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in Kaposvár, Hungary. He was born on December 24, 1950, at Scott AFB, IL, the son of Edmund and Anita Kolakowski.
He married Cynthia Kolakowski (Braun) on December 31, 1977. He later married Agota Kolakowski on October 26, 2002.
Survivors include his wife, Agota Kolakowski of Hungary; his sons, Alex (Melissa) Kolakowski of Moro, IL, and Andrew (Tiffany) Kolakowski of Champaign, IL; and four grandchildren: Madison, Reagan, Ava, and Emma Kolakowski; two brothers, Thomas Kolakowski and Michael (Elaine) Kolakowski; and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Alan proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve for four years before continuing his military career in the Air National Guard Reserve (Digital Switch Operator). In 1998, he embraced a new chapter abroad when he moved to Kaposvár, Hungary, as a government contractor with Houston Associates, Inc. In 2010, he transferred to DRS Spacelink, where he worked in satellite communications. After retiring in 2014, Alan made his home in Hungary, enjoying a peaceful retirement with his wife of 22 years.
Services for Alan will be held on December 22, 2025, in Kaposvar, Hungary.
