Alan Green

Kane |

On Sunday, August 30, 2020, Alan Jay Green, 60, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at his home in Kane, Illinois.

He was in Jerseyville, Illinois on August 24, 1960 and was one of two children born to the late Ralph Ellis and Betty Dee (Anderson) Green.

He was a 1978 graduate of Jersey Community High School, and went on to obtain his nursing license.  He worked as a nurse at Alton Mental Health Center for many years, and had a genuine compassion and love for his patients.   He possessed a very kind heart that showed daily, especially when interacting with his patients.  He loved his family dearly, and enjoyed exploring nature, whether it was fishing, wildlife or rivers.   He also had a fondness for the Star Wars films, which he would happily discuss in length and in great detail with anyone willing to listen.  He also earned his pilot's license and enjoyed flying whenever time allowed.

Alan will always be remembered for his storytelling abilities, his smile, and his ability to deliver a quick witted comment whenever deemed necessary.  He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and loved ones.

He is survived by his son, Kyle Green  of Galesburg, Il.; his sister and brother in-law, Tonya and Doyle Williamson of Fredericktown, Mo.; two nieces Tiffany Shields of Chatham, and Talana Damron, and her husband, Allen, of Godfrey.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.  Rev. John Gibson will officiate.

Burial will be alongside his parents at the Kane Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Grace Children's Home in care of the funeral home.
