Abigail McAdams

Abigail Nadine (Bergman) McAdams, 34, formerly of Waterloo, died unexpectedly at 2:24 p.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at her residence.

She was born on Ocotober 5, 1985 in Red Bud and was the daughter of Steven Keith and Shirley Ann (Goodman) Bergman.

Abby grew up in resided in Waterloo for the majority of her life, where she graduated with the class of 2004 from Waterloo High School. She went on to further her education at Southwestern Illinois College where she obtained her Associates Degree in Nursing.

She began her working career as a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Touchette Regional Hospital in Centreville, and most recently was employed at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Nursing was a natural calling for Abigail with her big heart and desire to help others. Whether it was caring for her patients or in her own personal life, she was loving and caring to all those she encountered.

She married Chad McAdams on January 25, 2019 in Jerseyville and although their time together was cut far too short, Abby and Chad shared in many wonderful memories with one another. One of her proudest moments came on January 6, 2019 when she was baptized at the Faith Temple United Pentecostal Church in Jerseyville. She also enjoyed camping, arts & crafts and her absolute favorite hobby ' shopping.

In addition to her husband, Chad, she is survived by her mother, Shirley Bergman of Waterloo; a daughter, Alaina Kathleen Dickerson of Freeburg; Chad's children, who she loved as her very own, Chad McAdams Jr. and Gracie McAdams; a sister and brother in-law, April and Corey Hays; two brothers and a sister in-law, Robert Bergman and Tyler (Laura) Bergman, all of Waterloo; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; her father in-law and mother in-law, Rev. Robert and Holly McAdams of Jerseyville, along with their family; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Steven Bergman and a  sister, Amy Jett Bergman.

Due to current mandates surrounding COVID-19, private services will be held and burial will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be given to her family in care of Crawford Funeral Home, 1308 State Highway 109, Jerseyville, IL 62052.
