JERSEYVILLE ' Melissa Ruth Veenendall, 53, died at 11:35 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2020 at her home in Jerseyville under the care of BJC Hospice.
She was born on November 1, 1966 in Carrollton and was a 1984 graduate of Jersey Community High School.
Melissa relished in the simple things in live and enjoyed nothing more than surrounding herself with the company of her family. She was a proud mother to her two children and enjoyed spending time with and babysitting her granddaughter, Avery, and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first grandson, James.
She is survived by a son, Joshua Holmes; a daughter and son in-law, Katie and Jake Furl; her granddaughter and grandson on the way; her mother, Linda Holmes, all of Jerseyville; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom held a very special place in Melissa's heart.
She was preceded in death by her father, James E. Holmes; a brother, James C. Holmes; paternal grandparents, Louis and Kathyrn Holmes; maternal grandfather, Paul Russell Jr; and maternal grandmother, Majorie Scheffel.
Per her wishes, cremation rights have been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be given to the Family in care of Crawford Funeral Home, 1308 State Highway 109, Jerseyville, IL 62052, who has been entrusted with arrangements.
