Jeannette Schuh

Jeannette Estelle Schuh, 87, died at 7:30 a.m., Monday, January 20, 2020, at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on November 1, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri, one of four children born to the late Charles and Dora (Benhardt) Wagner.

Jeannette grew up in the New Baden neighborhood of St. Louis County and went on to further her education at Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey, where she obtained her Nursing degree.

She has made her home in Dow for the past 62 years, raising her family and sharing in countless memories with her grandchildren throughout the years.

Throughout her nursing career, she worked at Alton Memorial Hospital, as well as Director of Nursing at both Robings Manor in Brighton and Life Care Center in Alton.

Jeannette loved to cook and after retiring from Nursing, she pursued her natural calling ' owning and operating two restaurants, Circa 1886 in Carrollton as well as Franklin House in Alton.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Connie Schuh of Alton; a son-in-law, Danny Thomas of Jerseyville; two grandchildren and their spouses, Andy and Shannon Thomas and Sara and Dean Schannot, all of Jerseyville; three step-grandchildren and their spouses, Linda and Paul Tedford of Bethalto; Michael Hamby of Alton; Amy and Corey Waters of East Alton; 2 great-grandchildren, Hudson and Bentley Schannot;  a brother, Ronald Wagner of Grafton; as well as dear friend, Dolores Smith of Elsah.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Thomas; a brother, Kenneth Wagner and a sister, Dolores Weis.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m., Monday, January 27, 2020, at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Burial will follow at the Elsah Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

visation will be held on from 12 p.m. until time of Military Honors at 1 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2020, at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Inurnment will take place at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at a later date.
