Eldora Stiles, 98, died at 11:20 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2019 at her home in Jerseyville.
She was born on October 5, 1921 east of Kane, and was the oldest of five children born to the late Peter Roscoe and Grace Eldora (Hunt) Young.
Eldora married Richard Burrows on April 4, 1942, and together they were the parents of six children, later in life, she married John Stiles.
She was employed in her early years at the International Shoe Factory in Jerseyville until she began her family, at which time she became a stay-at-home mom. She would later begin working at Jersey Community Hospital in 1967, where she retired after 21 years as a Nurse's Aide in 1988.
Eldora enjoyed surrounding herself with the company of her family and was a loyal and faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville, where she participated in many activities throughout the years, including their monthly Ladies Prayer Meetings.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Alan Powell of Jerseyville; three sons, Gary Burrows of Jerseyville, Paul Burrows of Otterville and Bruce Burrows of O'Fallon, MO; a son-in-law, Kenneth Evans of Jerseyville; nine grandchildren, Philip (Lori) Tewell of Jerseyville; Rose (Mike) Badasch of East Alton; Rich Peterson of Marissa; Dawn (Kenton) McGee of Roodhouse; Tiffany (JD) Oates of Jerseyville; Kevin (Nicole) Kanallakan of Glen Carbon; Julie (Jim) Crafton of Greenfield; Casey Burrows of Bonne Terre, MO, and Christy (Jason) Depart of Gilbert, AZ; 30 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Theodore Young of Milton, KY; as well as a sister, Eura Mae Weaver of Jerseyville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son in infancy, Ronald Lee Burrows; a daughter, Janice Evans on November 8, 2015; a grandson, Kristopher Kanallakan on April 11, 2018; as well as two brothers, Robert and Richard Young.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville.
Burial will follow at the Kane Cemetery.
