Bernadine O. Brune, 89, passed away at 4:45 pm Saturday, October 19, 2013 at SSM St. Clare Health Center in Fenton, MO
She was born in Alton, IL on June 6, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Truman & Odette (Maguire) Searles.
Bernadine was a graduate of Alton High School where she played in the band. She formally was involved with the Alton Assembly of Rainbow for Girls. She was employed for four years in the main office of Laclede Steel in Alton.
Bernadine married Kenneth H. Brune on February 20, 1948 at Main St. United Methodist Church in Alton. He passed away on February 9, 2008.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William & Carolyn Brune of Houston, TX and Charles & Elizabeth Brune of Ballwin, MO; two grandchildren, Chelsea Brune of Boulder, CO & Emily Brune of Clayton, MO and one sister, Dolores Yavorski of Alton.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Truman Searles.
One of her favorite past times was watching the St. Louis Cardinals She was very happy to know the Cards made it to the World Series again.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
