Tony A. Martin, 70, Left this world on 11/23/2012 at Christian Northeast Hospital, to be reunited with his son, his mother, sister and brothers to share in ever lasting peace. He was born in Alton, attended St. Patrick’s and Alton High Schools. He then joined the US Army, served in France and was discharged in 1962.

 

He married Joyce Webb in 1968. He was a wonderful father to her three children, Ron L. Webb (Lisa) of Alton; Debbie Cates of Tulsa OK; and Linda Degonia-Martin of St. Louis. They spent their married life working at Bays Detective Agency in Oklahoma and SOS Security in Laredo TX. within his own company.

After their divorce, he relocated to Alton to spend more time with his family. Once again he started his own business in security access until his illness became apparent in 2010.

In addition to his children, he leaves behind two sisters, Judy McConnell (Gordon) of Anaheim, CA and Patricia West of Alton; a sister-in-law Donna Martin of Bunker Hill; 8 nephews: Jeff Kelly of Plano, TX; Phil Martin (Dawn) of Bunker Hill;  Mike and Gordon McConnell of Anaheim, CA; Rodger Martin (Carol) of York, ME; Rodney Martin of Godfrey; Greg Covington of Alton; 6 nieces: Debbie Hook of Alton,; Colleen Braga of Meridian, ID; Lisa Bailey and Dana Barrett both of Alton; Julia Ansell and Sabrina (Brad) Randolph of Godfrey; an extended family of June Epperson of Ft. Worth, TX, her children Eric and Sheila Epperson of Burleson, TX; Keith and Amanda Epperson of Lenoir, TN and their 4 children with a special love to Cheyenne. Long time, special friends: Carolyn, Willie, and Mike Lee of Alton; Jerry and Sharon Cox and family of Alton; Joe McDonald of KY; 4 grandchildren Toni Sue Gant and Tara Jo Eckhardt of OK, Kris Martin and Ashley Heinlein of Alton and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Florence Thurman and John W. Martin, 2 brothers Charles Martin of Decatur and Rodger Martin (Theresa) of Godfrey; a sister, Margaret of Alton and his 5 year old son, Monty Wayne.

Tony was a jokester who loved life and had many, many friends who shared in making memories whether it be in bass fishing, board games, golfing (accomplishing a hole in one several times), playing cards, dominoes, ping pong, riding motorcycles, and fixing so many broken computers.

He was loved very much and will be missed by so many.

Memorial Service will be at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home, in Alton, at 10:30 am with Fr. Shawn Monahan O.M.V. officiating, Saturday, December 1st, 2012. Visitation will continue after the service from 11:00 am till 1:00 pm

Memorials may be directed to the Veterans Administration or the American Heart Foundation.
