Dorothy Lucille Davis, 97, passed away at 2:14 pm Sunday, June 5, 2011 at her home with her family by her side, under the care of St Anthony’s Hospice.
She was born on January 7, 1914 in Brighton Township, IL, the daughter of Ernest and Nellie S. (Jaynes) Spickerman.
She married Victor L. Davis on August 6, 1958 in St. Charles, MO. He passed away in 1993.
Dorothy was a homemaker most of her life. She was one of the oldest members of the Moro Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, babysitting and all children and cooking
She is survived by a daughter, Lois Markham of Bethalto; a son and daughter-in-law, Marion and Shirley Davis of Bethalto; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jeff and Judy Davis of East Alton, Rick and Sylvia Markham of Bethalto and Gwen Jones of Gillespie; six great grandchildren, Cory Markham, Dustin Markham, Derek Markham, Kimme Mayes, Sarah Davis and Jeffrey Davis; a brother-in-law and his wife, Georg and Thelma Davis of Ocala, FL and other extended family, Sheryl and Gerald Ramey of Godfrey, Matthew and Bethany Schillinger and their daughters, Melina and Mariah of Bethalto and Sam Light and Emily Light of Godfrey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Ethel Neely and Nellie Lesich and six brothers, Ernest, Frank, Leonard, Lester, Edgar, and an infant brother, Henry Spickerman.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until funeral services at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the Moro Presbyterian Church with Pastor Patrick Thatcher officiating.
Interment will be at Moro Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Moro Presbyterian Church Heifer Project or Shriner’s Hospital.
