Anthony Watt

East Alton |

Anthony Ross Watt passed away on Dec. 25, 2010, at his East Alton home. His dog Ethan was at his side. He was born March 18, 1958, in the county of Wilts, England, but he attended Roxana High School, Roxana, Ill., and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Guadalcanal. He was employed at Olin Corp for 33 years and was a group leader in the Winchester Division.

He was an avid outdoorsman who explored the woods at every opportunity with Ethan. He was always on the hunt for Morel mushrooms, Indian artifacts or deer antlers and was good at finding all three. Often he could be found by an open fire, enjoying the stars and sleeping in the open with only those stars for cover. When his family and friends joined him there, he cooked for them and always made that time together unforgettable  for them. That love of the outdoors is carried on in his children, his grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Anthony Watt is survived by Anthony Gene and David Michael, his sons; Makala Renee, his daughter; Dawn Renee, their mother; and Samuel and Lucas, his grandsons. He is also survived by Hubert E. Watt, his father and Diana Watt, his stepmother; Louise Richards, his mother and Jim Richards, his stepfather; Steve and Robert, his brothers; Dottie Watt, his sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Hubert E. and Virgina Watt; and maternal grandparents Ed and Silva Hill.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 7 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights from 2 p.m. until services begin at 6 p.m.
