Charles D. (Charlie) Emons, 81, received eternal rest at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at his residence with his Daughter by his side. He was born on December 30, 1928 in Alton, IL the son of Dr. Clifford and Berenice (McCreight) Emons. He married Mary Kathleen "Kit" on September 29, 1966. She preceded him in death on September 11, 2005.

Charlie attended Alton Schools and graduated from Monmouth College in 1954. Shortly after college he entered the Air Force and was stationed in Wyoming for four years. After completing his service he returned to Alton and worked for the Alton Box Board and later became owner of Emons Printing Company in Alton. Charlie enjoyed watching all sports, especially baseball, playing golf and hunting with his grandson Eric. Other favorite pastime was horse racing and playing cards with his friends. Charlie was a past member of Lockhaven Country Club, the Rotary Club, and the Elks. He was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church in Alton and recently joined Evangelical United Church of Christ in Godfrey.

He is survived and will be greatly missed by his children, Cliff and Tammie Emons of Alton; Mike and Susie Emons of Winter Park, FL; John and Martha Yost, Jim and Julie Yost, Jeannie and Perry Hill, Karen and Jeff Fleming and Chris and Darrin Peuterbaugh all of Godfrey, IL; 21 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Carolyn and James Hinton of Santa Rosa, CA; a brother-in-law and his wife, Charles and Judy Armstrong of New Smyrna Beach, FL and other extended family.

Besides his wife, Charlie was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Stefan Marie and a infant granddaughter, Gracie Berenice.

A service will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 with a visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. and a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Godfrey, IL with Rev. Jerry Mecaskey officiating. In accordance with his wishes the body will be cremated. Inurnment will be held at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

Memorials may be made to the Evangelical United Church of Christ School.
