Charlene Strickland, 88, died at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey. Born June 19, 1922 in Ames, Iowa, she was the daughter of C.J. and Orpha M. (Schulze) Myers. She worked in the accounting department at Alton Banking and Trust for many years.
On August 30, 1941 in Alton, she married John E. Strickland. He preceded her in death on November 17, 2006. Surviving are two sons, David C. Strickland of St. Petersburg, FL and John A. Strickland of Wood River.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Reverend Don E. Long Jr. will officiate.
