Ruby W. Scheffel, age 90, passed away at 1:15 am, Monday, July 5, 2010, at Eldercare of Alton.
She was born in Wood River, IL on November 22, 1919 the daughter of the late John L. and Lucille (Fulton) McCourtney.
Ruby married Ralph C. Scheffel on March 22, 1940 in Alton, IL. He survives.
She was a beloved wife and homemaker and took great pride in her home. Though Ruby and Ralph had no children they were Grandma and Grandpa to many. Ruby was activated by Jesus Christ. She and Ralph worked with the church youth group for over 20 years. She was in the church choir for over 40 y
Ruby is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers; Irvin, John and Lloyd McCourtney.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral Service will be at 10 am Thursday July 8, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in with Pastor David Burman and Rev. Gerald Dooley officiating.
Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery, in Alton.
Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home in Valparaso, IN, or Brown Street Baptist Church.
