Karole June Schafer, age 78, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, June 7, 2010.
She was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on February 4, 1932 to the late Ernest and Mary (Hood) Leslie.
She married Charles Schafer on October 8, 1977 in Alton Illinois. He preceded her in death as well as her parents and two siblings; Fred Leslie and Sue Drzewiecki.
Karole worked as a secretary for many years, however working as a seamstress and ballroom dance instructor was her true passion.
Survivors include her children, Rick and Deborah Harrelson of Cottage Hills, Kenneth (Debra) Harrelson of Cary, IL and Glenda Stephen of Houston TX; her grandchildren, Robert Harrelson and his companion, Raquel Siemer of East Alton, Kevin and Jamie Harrelson of Roxana, Kelly and Joey Oros of Hartford, IL and Eric Stephen of Houston, TX; one great grandson, Trent Harrelson of Jerseyville; her siblings, Donna Leslie of Dallas, TX, David Leslie of Dallas, TX and Teddy Leslie of Michigan City, IN.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 10, 2010 from 10 am until funeral services at 12 Noon at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Private inurnment will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Edwardsville at a later date.
