Clarence Milford Seifrit, 96 passed away at 3:35 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Eldercare of Alton.
He was born on February 13, 1914 in Fairmont, WV the son of the late Isaac and Maud (Pepper) Seifrit.
He married the former Dorothy Mae Auchstatter on April 8, 1939, celebrated 71 glorious years together. She survives.
He received his apprenticeship with Owens-Illinois Corporation in their Fairmont Plant and he then transferred to the Alton Plant in 1950 where he retired in 1975. He loved bowling and served as secretary of the local association and one year as president of the Illinois Bowling Association. He also served as secretary/treasurer of the American Flint Glass Workers Union. He was a Shriner, a member of the Faternal Order of Eagles #254 and a member of the Piasa Masonic Lodge. Milford also had a radio show at the Lewis and Clark Community College Radio Station called “The Make Believe Ballroom”. He also umpired softball for local area teams. He was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a two children Jim and his spouse Laura Seifrit of Marrero, LA, Susan (Seifrit) Nickel of Alton, three grandchildren, Larry Nickel of Alton, David (Michelle) Seifrit of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Stacy (Seifrit) Baca of Alton, six great grandchildren, Josh and Jessica Seifrit, Chasidy (Brian) Metz, Chrystle and Jonathan Schobernd, Madison Baca and one great great granddaughter Bryce Metz and one step great great granddaughter Paxton Metz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey where funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June7, 2010 with the Rev. Jame Hahs officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton.
