Paul E. Corbin, 68, died at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born December 2, 1941 in Alton, he was the son of Albert and Evelyn (VanTrease) Corbin.

He served on the USS Willard Keith with the U.S. Navy for four years. He retired from the Olin Corporation as a machinist in 2002 after 37 years of service. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, tinkering with and fixing things, cooking and watching the Food Network.

On April 21, 1962 at St. Matthews Church in Alton, he married the former Nancy Zimmer. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Lisa Wahl and her husband Rick of Brighton, two sons, Charles Corbin of Alton and Ken Corbin of Hartford, one granddaughter, Hope Izard of Brighton, a sister, Mary Clark of East Alton and a brother-in-law, John E. Zimmer of Trenton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Orval Corbin.

Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday. Father Steve Pohlman will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with military honors by the VFW Post 1308. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of choice.
