Dorothy E. Unterbrink, 92, passed away at 6:37 am Saturday April 17, 2010 at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.
She was born on March 29, 1918 in Edwardsville, the daughter of Fred & Caroline (Reiter) Krome.
She married Victor Unterbrink Sr. on February 19, 1939 at her home in Moro. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1985.
She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Midway for 78 years where she was also involved with the women’s guild. She was a member of the Madison County Farm Bureau and loved to work puzzles, read and play cards and visiting with family and friends. She also enjoyed embroidering and she loved gardening. She raised her children to have strong family and Christian values and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, and two daughters and sons-in-law, Victor & Judy Unterbrink of Bethalto, Janette & Joe Bolin of Chatham, IL Joyce & Bob Kruckeberg of Santa Fe, TX, and Steve & Barb Unterbrink of Moro; eight grandchildren, Sherry Scott, Jeff Unterbrink, Jessica Moore, Amanda Bolin, Emily Young and her husband Karl, Aaron Kruckeberg and his wife Krista , and Tyler Unterbrink and his fiancée Kari, Leslie Unterbrink and her fiancé James; eight great grandchildren, one sister, Evelyn Hubach of Collinsville, one sister-in-law, Jean Krome of Edwardsville, and several niece and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three grandchildren, Brent & Laura Bolin, and Mike Unterbrink, and a brother, Frederick Krome.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Monday April 19, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Tuesday April 20, 2010 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Midway with Rev. Lori Schaefer officiating.
Burial will follow at St. John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Midway.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Church Christ Building Fund.
