Ruth E. Retherford, 82, passed away at 11:48 am on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born on August 16, 1927 in Dixon, IL, the daughter of Elmer & Ruby (Nall) Harkey.
She married Gerald Retherford on August 10, 1944 in Edwardsville. He preceded her in death.
Ruth was an inspector at Olin Corporation for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Meadowbrook First Southern Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Monzelle & Clinton Woodfin of Bolivar, MO and June & Barney Becraft of Keyesport, IL; two brothers and three sisters-n-law, Walter & Peggy Harkey of Meadowbrook, Howard & Dorothy Harkey of Shipman and Donna Harkey of Moro and many nieces and nephews that she loved very much and that loved her too.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Harkey.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 10 am on Thursday, April 8, 2010 with Pastor Craig Wurst and Pastor officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to Meadowbrook First Southern Baptist Church.
