Margaret Julia Mc Connell, 89 died at 1:12 a.m. March 23, 2010 at Robings Manor in Brighton, IL.
Margaret was born on August 29, 1920 in Bethalto IL. to the late John and Beatrice (Stanton) Henkhaus.
She married John Edward Mc Connell Jr. on June 5, 1940 in Wood River, IL. He preceded her in death on August 23, 1984.
Margaret was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, IL. She was also a charter member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Alton, Il. she also spent many hours as a volunteer for the Auxiliary at St. Anthony’s Hospital. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters; Patricia Dobner of San Jose, CA. and Michelle and her spouse John Singley of Godfrey, IL. one son; John E. Mc Connell III of E. Alton, IL. ten grandchildren; Jennifer Accurso, Valerie Sutton, Elizabeth Abalos, Daniel Miller, Lisa Orsinelli, Brad Mc Connell, Daniel Mc Connell, Brian Mc Connell, Mary Hough, and Evan Singley, and 16 great-grandchildren, one sister; Delores Morrison of Edwardsville, Il. and one brother; Maurice Henkhaus of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters; Florence Stutz, and Irene Walters, four brothers; Ralph Henkhaus, Robert Henkhaus, Kenny Henkhaus, and Joseph Henkhaus.
In celebration of her life a visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am. On Saturday, March 27, 2010 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey with Father Steve Pohlman officiating.
Burial services will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.
