Ruth Bessie Griggs, 81, died at 3:28 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born August 5, 1928 in Alton, she was the daughter of Elmer and Bessie (Nesbitt) Ealey.
She was a member of the National Rifle Association. On July 20, 1946 in East Alton, she married Charley Junior Griggs. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2005.
Surviving is a son, James Griggs and his wife Christa of Bunker Hill, two daughters; Joyce Buzzanga of Brighton and Judy Fritz of Alton, 10 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and three sisters; Shirley Wade of Missouri, Carol Huff and her husband Jess of Goodland, KS and Rose Campbell and her husband Harry of Alamogordo, NM.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Brian Keith Griggs, a brother, James Ealey and two sisters; Evelyn Sagan and Dorothy Voiles.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.
Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
