Helen Elizabeth (Harting) Rogers, 76, passed away at 9:00 pm on Monday, March 1, 2010 at Eden Village in Glen Carbon.
She was born on June 27, 1933 in Upper Alton, IL the daughter of Amiel & Theresa (Nettie) (Wheaton) Harting.
She married Clifton R. Rogers on February 19, 1952 in Jackson, Mississippi. He survives.
Helen was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto. She was an avid gardener, genealogist, enjoyed coin collecting and oil-painting.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three children and a son-in-law, Kimberley & Phil Schoenfeld of Edwardsville, Stephen Bradley Rogers of Missouri and Patrick Lee Rogers of Alton; five grandchildren, John Marburger, Melinda Schon Beyer, Matthew Rogers, Elizabeth Rogers, and Theresa Clayton; six great grandchildren, a sister & brother-in-law, Dorothy & Bill East of Jerseyville; a brother & sister-in-law, William & Carol Harting of Ritzville, WA; a brother-in-law & his wife, Melvin & Mary Rogers of Jerseyville; sisters-in-law, Wilma Rogers of Jerseyville and Velma Harting of Oklahoma City, OK and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Gregory Michael Rogers, 2 sisters, Rosemary Corzine (James) and Marcella Royse (Whitey) and a brother, Wilber Harting.
In celebration of her life visitation will be from 9 am until services at 10:30 am on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Father Jerry Wickenhauser officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Fieldon.
Memorials may be made to the Bethalto Boys & Girls Club.
