Frank Hillier

Frank E. Hillier, 80, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Christian Hospital Northeast.

He was born Aug. 21, 1929 in Burfordville, Ill. to Charles F. and Alma G. (Masters) Hillier.

On Nov. 23, 1951, he married Dorris V. Van Camp in Wood River, and she survives.

He worked for Amoco as a lab technician for 15 years until 1962. He then became a systems analyst for McDonnell-Douglas and worked for 25 years before retiring in 1988.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served from Jan. 21, 1951 to Jan. 22, 1953 during the Korean Conflict.

He and his wife were members of the Hoedowners Square Dance Club and the North county Swingers Square Dance Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and John Gentry of Warrensburg, Mo.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Judy Hillier of Lake St. Louis, Mo. and Ken and Denise Hillier of Granite City; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 26 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights from 11 a.m. until Rev. John Higgins officiates services at 1 p.m.

Burial will be at Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
