Dorothy Lynn Forehand, 58, passed away at 1:07 pm on Monday, February 22, 2010 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis with her family by her side.
She was born on June 25, 1951 in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of William "Bill" T. & Betty L. (Greenwood) Broadway.
She married Lawrence "Larry" W. Forehand on June 9, 1973 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto. He survives.
She worked as Food Service Director at Alton Memorial Hospital for 21 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. Dorothy was a wonderful cook and baker. She enjoyed shopping, traveling and attending sporting events. Above all else, Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. She wanted nothing more than to spend time with and love her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. The wonderful memories of Dorothy will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Besides her husband and her parents of Bethalto, she is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Amy & Andrew Weaver and Julie Forehand all of Herrin, IL; two grandchildren, Katie Beth Weaver and Jake Weaver; a brother and sister-in-law, David K. & Gayla Broadway of St. Charles, MO; her nephews, Keith & Kyle Broadway of St. Charles, MO, Anthony Ritz of Wichita, KS, Ryan Cooper of Hendersonville, NC and Andrew Myer of Moro; her father and mother-in-law, David Warren & Virginia Forehand of Bethalto; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Janice & Bob Andrews of Danville, IL and Donna & Paul Myer of Moro.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday, February 27, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton with Father Chris Uhl, O.M.V. officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be given to Operation Blessing or Catholic Charities.
