Geraldine M. Deck, 83 passed away unexpectedly at 10:32 am on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at St. Anthony's Health Care.
She was born on July 24, 1926 St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Vincent & Adrian M. (Vincent) Stirnaman.
She married Richard Deck on November 23, 1946 in Alton, IL. He preceded her in death in 1985.
She was a nurse's aid at Olin Corp. for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, then moved her membership to St. Matthews Catholic Church and now St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Richard & Susie Deck of Lafayette, TN, Howard & Karen Deck of Florida, Arthur & Barbara Deck of Glen Carbon, IL, Joyce & Don Baker of St. Peters, MO, Marianne & David Bone of Brighton, IL, Barbara & Terry Hutslar of Wilton, ND and Paula & Dane Walkington of Dorsey, IL, 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Glennon Stirnaman, James Stirnaman of Phoenix, AZ and a sister and brother-in-law, Juanita & Charles Hoffman of Florissant, MO
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Deck and one grandson.
Per her wishes her body was donated to St. Louis University.
Memorial mass will be at 10 am on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, with Fr. Shawn Monahan O.M.V. officiating.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and or a Charity of One's Choice.
Staten-Fine Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
