Larry Cecil Hanks, age 74, passed away at 4:48 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at VIP Manor in Wood River.

He was born in Alton February 4, 1936 the son of Cecil W. and Mildred (Hamilton) Hanks.

He was a laborer out of Local 218 for 51 years working for Widman Construction Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and especially spending time with his family and grandkids. He was a founding member of Bush Pilots Motorcycle Club and a member of the Alton Eagle Lodge.

He is survived by two daughters Debbie and spouse Joe Lish of East Alton, Kim Garrett of Alton, two sons Alan Hanks and Star Barnett of Gillespie, Randy Hanks of Alton nine grandchildren, Dulcie Cargill, David Cargill, Nicki Garrett, A.J. and Allana Hanks, Aaron French, Kassie French, and Lindsey Lafferty, eight great grandchildren, Koby, Lexee, Jayda, Ayden, Zane, Tremain, Trey and Averi, one brother Kent and spouse Betty Hanks of Godfrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother Jessie Hanks and a great grandchild Zander French.

Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm, Tuesday February 16, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey where funeral services will be Wednesday February 17, 2010 at 11 am. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be directed to the family in care of Debbie Lish.
