Lorene Mushill

Lorene Martha "Inky" Mushill, 86, went to be with the Lord at 2:40 am on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born on November 10, 1923 in Madison, Illinois, the daughter of Leo John & Mary Anna (Szczepanski) Bunk

She married Joseph Stanley Mushill on April 22, 1944 in Madison, IL. He preceded her in death in January 2003.

Lorene was a true matriarch to both the Mushill and Bunk families. She was a homemaker most of her life but she previously worked at Small Arms Ammunition in St. Louis, in San Diego, CA welding airplanes during the war and at the St. Louis Spaghetti Factory. She was an accomplished flower gardener and a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto. She enjoyed polkas, flowers, the outdoors, wildlife and large family dinners and potlucks.

She is survived by five sons and three daughters-in-law, Leo Joe & Wanda Mushill, Louie & Patti Mushill, and Mike Mushill all of Bethalto, Larry & Brenda Mushill of North Carolina and Raymond Mushill of California; three daughters and sons-in-law, Frances & Jim Nappier of Moro, Rose & Neil Barnes of Alton and Mary Jane & Terry Wethington of Wood River; 20 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Cecelia Tolbert of Caseyville; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Bunk of Madison, IL and numerous dear nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Walter, Edward "Bud", Leo, Stanley and Daniel Bunk and 2 sisters, Mary "Mamie" Garofoli and Emily Strobel

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 am on Friday, January 29, 2010 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto with Father Tom Liebler officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Edwardsville

Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church.
