Ronald Chamberlain

Ronald L. Chamberlain, 80, passed away 11:20am on Sunday, January 24, 2010, at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on September 22, 1929, in Wood River, Illinois the son of the late Harold and Icie (Stevens) Chamberlain.

He married the former Norma Jean Medhurst on March 6, 1976, in East Alton, Illinois and she preceded him in death on November 5, 2009.

Survivors include two daughters and sons in law: Jill and Ray Kohlhaas of Mt. Olive, Illinois, Robin and Tim Haug of Bourbonnais, Illinois, one son and daughter in law: Brad and Cindy Coffman of Jerseyville, Illinois, nine grandchildren and their spouses: Jeremy and Deehan Coffman, Jennifer and Mike Koenig, Brooke Brewer, Amie and Paul Kassly, Heather and Steve Mandeville, Jordan Haug, Mitchell Haug, Nathan Haug, Korie Haug, eight great - grandchildren: Alex Coffman, Adam Coffman, Shelby Koenig, Hunter Koenig, Brady Brewer, Nolan Brewer, Koen Kassly, and Kylee Kassly, along with four nieces: Peggy Davison, Terri Jean Bechtold, Patty Jo Andrews, and Jane Hickey, and two nephews: David Chamberlain and Dale Broadway, and one sister in law: Virginia Chamberlain of Wood River all survive.

He graduated from East Alton Wood River High School in 1948. He was a veteran of the United States Army in the Korean War. He was formerly employed at Emerson Electric Company in St. Louis retiring in 1995. He loved to garden and make people laugh. He was of the Baptist Affiliation. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother: Donald Chamberlain.

Visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the funeral home. Pastor Jonathan Absher will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials are suggested to the 1st Church of God in Meadowbrook or the American Cancer Society.
