Barbara J. Kopsie passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the age of 76. Dear daughter of the late Ralph and Minnie Hutchinson and beloved wife of the late Michael A. Kopsie.
She is survived by her nine children; Brenda (Butch) Chapman, Cindy (Hassan) Rouhani, Jeff (Gwen) Kopsie, Sue (Jim) Reilly, Brad (Kathy) Kopsie, Mike (Margaret) Kopsie, Janet (Bob) Bateman, Greg (Debbie) Kopsie, and Patty Droste; her 24 grandchildren; Becky (Joe) Berlingeri, Bryan (Kelly) and Ben Chapman, Sasaun and Ramien (Jessica) Rouhani, Sherien (Keith) Yuen, Eric and Bret Kopsie, Rick (Carrie) and Marc Wood, Lindsay Averbeck, Kyle and Stefanie Kopsie, Molly, Mindy, and Michael Kopsie, Mitch Harvey, Barbi and Eddie Bateman, Travis, Chelsea, and Ethan Kopsie, Pam and Rachel Droste, her 13 great-grandchildren; Emilia and Joseph Berlingeri, Layla, Kian, and Peymon Yuen, Sam and Annalyse Rouhani, Lance Wood, J.D. and Michael Averbeck, Pyper, Talyn, and Landon Wood, her aunt, Alice (Ken) Nolte, sisters-in-law, Mildred and Coreen "Corky" Hutchinson, Elaine (Louis) Lachner, and Maria, Shirley, Patty, and Linda Kopsie, and her many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jim, Ronnie, and John "Butch" Hutchinson, her grandson, Ryan Kopsie, her brothers-in-law, Earl, James, Ronald, Karl, and Richard Kopsie, and her sisters-in-law, Joan Hutchinson and Myrna and Verna Kopsie. Barb helped many people during the span of her career as a registered nurse at both St. Joseph and St. Clares Hospital in Alton.
She will be greatly missed by all who love her. Many thanks to the caring staff at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2010 at Gent Funeral Home, 2409 State Street, Alton, IL 62002 where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday January 23, 2010. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be given to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, St. Mary's Catholic Church or to the 5A's Animal Shelter.
