James Minor

James M. "Waterhead" Minor, 58, died at 5:32 a.m. Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Born July 30, 1951 in Alton, he was the son of Ezra and Lelia (Bryant) Minor.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. James was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of Ducks Unlimited. On June 27, 1998 in Alton, he married the former Cynthia Waggoner. She survives.

Also surviving are 2 daughters; Jamie Brown and her husband David of Mt. Olive, Chelsea Minor of Jerseyville, a son, Joseph Minor and his wife Lindsay of Mt. Olive, seven grandchildren; Brandon, Dylan, Justin, Katlynn, Jeffrey, Shannon, and Isaac, two great grandchildren, three brothers; Harry Minor and his wife Debbie of Meadowbrook, Paul "Dinky" Minor and his wife Rita of Brighton, Steve Minor and his wife Linda of Dow, two sisters; Dora Jean "Dodie" Funk and her husband Lonnie of Brighton, and Dottie Flannery and her husband Rick of Brighton, a sister-in-law, Jackie Minor of Alton, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Leroy Minor, and a nephew, Ricky "Doo" Minor. Those of us left behind celebrate his life, knowing that he was a devoted family man, proud "Brother" and loyal friend, and will be sadly missed by many.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday. Reverend Ed Haun will officiate. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
