Emma M. Bean, 88, died at 11:10 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at her home in Godfrey. Born September 27, 1921 in Jersey County, she was the daughter of William and Annie (Craig) Bean.
She was a bookkeeper for Jacoby Furniture Company in downtown Alton for 58 years and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Piasa.
She is survived by a sister, Helen Voorhees of Brighton and numerous nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Allen and Milton Bean.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. Reverend Dean Blackburn will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Piasa.
