Carl A. Mellenthin, 71, passed away at 12:45 p.m., November 20, 2009, at his residence, with his family by his side.
He was born on October 31, 1938 in Alton, IL, to Charles H, and Dorothy Marie (Young) Mellenthin.
Carl married Barbara Emmons on August 22, 1958 in Alton, IL she survives.
He was employed at Mc Donald Douglas, which then turned into Boeing for 51 yrs. as a quality control specialist. He served his country in the U.S. Army reserves. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Godfrey, IL, and he had a Puppet Ministry for 20 yrs. He enjoyed woodworking, but his greatest joy was being with his family, that was what his life was about and being a great grandpa.
His wife Barbara, one daughter; Kathy Frye of Tempe, AZ. two sons; Don Mellenthin of Brighton, IL, Jeffery and his spouse Mitzi Mellenthin of Houston, TX survive him. Nine grandchildren; Paul Braundmeier, Alicia Frye, Daniel Mellenthin, Abigail Mellenthin, Grace Mellenthin, Chelsea Mellenthin, Joseph Mellenthin, and Jonathon Mellenthin, one great-grandson; Eric Braundmeier, one sister; June Show of CO. and a brother-in-law and sister- in-law; Larry and Janice Emmons of Godfrey, Il.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard Mellenthin and Charles Mellenthin in infancy.
A Memorial Service will be conducted an 11 am, on Friday, November 27, 2009 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Godfrey, IL, with the Rev. Adrian Das officiating.
