Norma Jones

Norma Jean Jones, 79, went to be with the Lord at 10:07 am on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri with her family by her side.

She was born on February 11, 1930 in St. Jacob, IL, daughter of the late Elmer J. and Stella Irene (Buettikoffer) Becker.

She married James "Jim" K. Jones on July 29, 1949 at Eden's United Church of Christ in Edwardsville. He survives.

Norma was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Wood River, where she served on the Ladies Auxiliary on the funeral committee. She loved to cook, sew and be with her family especially her grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Sylvia & David Bowker of Florissant, MO and Stella & Jimmy Hartwick of Edwardsville; a son and daughter-in-law, James "Jim" E. & Marsha Jones of Godfrey; seven grandchildren, Karen & Joel Moser, Kristen Bowker, Ryan Bowker, Chris Jones, J.J. Hartwick, Jordan Hartwick and LeAnne Hartwick; a step brother, Hank Robards of St. Jacob, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Viola D. Walker Sterling.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2009 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. David Beebe officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Edwardsville.

Memorials may be given to the St. John United Church of Christ in Wood River.
