Robert Ash, age 86, passed away at 1:00 am, Sunday, November 22, 2009, at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born in Alton on June 28, 1923, to the late Clyde B. and Lillian Amelia (Kunneman) Ash.
He was married to Ruth Ash and she preceded him in death, he was also with Edna Dooley for 27 years and she preceded him in death also.
He served in the Navy during WWII and was a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308. He worked as a union bricklayer for Local #1.
He is survived by his long time companion Carolyn Austin and her children Barbara and her spouse Jim Autocunas of Grafton, Kay and her spouse Ron Powell of Jerseyville and Carolyn's three grandchildren and one great grandchild, two brothers Don E. Ash of Alton, Jack A. Ash of Godfrey, and several extended family members Diana Macias of Alton, Linda Hudgens and Cathy Booth both of Jacksonville, David Booth and Chad Booth.
Per his wishes cremation rites were accorded.
Memorial services will be conducted at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the Church of the Nazarene in Godfrey.
