Mildred Frances (Millie) Baty, 86, entered into her heavenly home at 2:55 am Thursday, October 29, 2009 at VIP Manor in Wood River.

She was born on April 11, 1923 in Alton, the daughter of the George W. & Eleanor (Stolze) Baty.

She had lived her entire life in Alton; she attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from Marquette High School. She worked as a Nanny for 2 years, at Block's for years and as a secretary for 37 years. She took early retirement after being hit by a car in 1982 which left her partially handicapped. She belonged to St. Ann's Altar Society and her stewardship at church was assisting at the funerals of her church. She also at one time taught P.S.R. classes to 1st graders at St. Mary's. She also sang in the choir when it was under direction of the late Professor Max Hiendlemeyer. She gave all this up after her Mother had a series of strokes and had to enter a nursing home.

She is survived by two sisters, Eleanor "Babe" Netzhammer and Margaret Baty of Alton, a sister-in-law, Carmella Baty of New York and a dear brother-in-law, William Wetstein of Lockport, IL. She will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Joseph Baty, who died in infancy, Clarence "Bud" Baty, and Alvin "Jack" Baty, two brothers-in-law, William Netzhammer Sr. and Elmer Pohlman, three sisters, Evelyn (Baty) Pohlman, Mary (Baty) Austin, and Ruth (Baty) Wetstein and a dear friend of 25 years, Warren "Red" Andrews, two special nephews whom she baby sat and loved with all her heart, Billy III and & Cody Ryan Netzhammer. They made her life whole and complete.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 3 to 7 pm Sunday, November 1, 2009, at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton where a Rosary service will be held at 3:00 pm

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Monday, November 2, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Jim Walther celebrating.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Alton.

Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville or to Masses.
