Dorothy C. Welling, age 96, she went to be with the Lord at 7:45 am, on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Eldercare Nursing Home in Alton.
She was born on September 18, 1913 in Fosterburg, Illinois to August & Amanda (Dingerson) Brueggemann.
She married Lester "Chick" Welling on May 15, 1935 at Zion Presbyterian Church in Fosterburg. He passed away on July 27, 2001.
Dorothy was a cook at the Fosterburg grade school for 9 years. She was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church in Fosterburg, where she was involved with the Women in Mission's where she helped quilt, helped as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Fosterburg Senior Citizens. She loved to travel with her husband and spend time with her friends, family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Elmer & Barbara Welling of Fosterburg, Marilyn Lobbig of Fosterburg, Leo & Jerrie Welling of Shipman and Allen & Lynn Welling of Brighton; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Benjamin "Butch", Andrew "Andy" and Christopher "Cricket" Welling, Dale & Stephanie Lobbig, Amy & Scott Rushton, Jenny & John Dugan, Frank, Jeffrey, Joshua and Nicholas Welling; ten great grandchildren, Ryan, Hannah, Derick, Cody, Emma, Lisa, Dana, Maxwell, Casey and Madalyn; one bother and sister-in-law, Clyde & Maxine Brueggemann of Brighton; one sister-in-law, Alma Welling of Alton and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and sister-in-law, Harold & Lillie Brueggemann.
Visitation will from 9:30 am until funeral service at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the Zion Presbyterian Church in Fosterburg, IL with Pastor Mark Stone officiating.
Burial will follow at Fosterburg Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Zion Presbyterian Church in Fosterburg and or the Fosterburg Senior Citizens.
