Peggy Wood

Peggy L. Wood, 80, died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton. Born March 25, 1929 in Sapulpa, OK, she was the daughter of Clifford and Violet (Brumley) Lowe. She retired from Owens Illinois Glass and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. On November 28, 1946 in Alton, she married Chester R. Wood. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2007. Surviving is a son, Kevin P. Wood and his wife Cindy of Glen Carbon, a daughter, Linda S. Morgan and her husband Mike of Brighton, four grandchildren; Susan and Josh Plymale, Steve and Tressa Morgan, Chelsey Quick, and Ethan Wood, two great grandchildren; Cali and Cami Plymale, and two sisters; Doris McPherson and her husband George of Elizabeth City, NC, and Norma Rogers and her husband Everett of Robertsville, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Reverend Andre' Dobson will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Music Department or to St. Anthony's Hospice.
