Helen Clark

Helen M. "Gigi" Clark, 75, died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at her home in Godfrey, Illinois. Born June 3, 1934 in Benton, MO, she was the daughter of Joseph L. Weber and Caroline (Schramm) Weber Grootens. She married Newton Clark on August 25, 1973 in East Hampton, CT. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2004. After she married, she semi-retired from waitressing. She was a Coast Guard Auxiliary member with her husband while in Connecticut. She is survived by a son, John S. Boyd and his wife Denise of Glendale, AZ, four step daughters; Susan Dowd of Westerly, R.I., Corinne Smith of Creve Coeur, MO, Sydney Clark of Frederick, MD, and Gwendolyn Jerome and her husband George of Calabash, NC, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three sisters; Ann Creel of Jefferson City, MO, Marcie Sumrall of Hannibal, MO, and Ella Seizer of Cape Girardeau, MO, and five brothers; Dennis Weber and his wife Betty of Belton, MO, Charles Weber and his wife Marilyn of Cape Girardeau, MO, Jerome Weber of James Port, MO, Joseph Weber Jr. and his wife Pat of St. Charles, MO, and Jim Weber and his wife Judy of Cape Girardeau, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters; Maggie Hughes, and Vi Smith, and a brother, Leon Weber. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Deacon Bill Kessler will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the BJC Hospice.
