Clinton Harold Buttry, 78, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, MO.

He was born in Sturdivant, MO on May 5, 1931, the son of Pete & Vernice (Cooper) Buttry.

He married Dorothy Owens on June 8, 1957 in St. Louis, MO. She survives.

Clinton served his country in the US Army from December 1950 to April 1955. He worked at Laclede Steel for 34 years retiring in 1992. He was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Wood River where he served as the Finance Chairman for many years, ushered and served on the pastor's committee. He was also the grievance committeeman for the Steelworkers Union for over 20 years. He loved gardening and watching his grandchildren play sports.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, two daughters & sons-in-law, Diane & John Ray of Katy, TX and Jayne & Mike Poulsen of Bethalto, IL; six grandchildren, Jessica & Kevin Herzogenrath, Christa Ray, Jenny Gibbs, and Daniel, Matty & Sam Poulsen; a brother & sister-in-law, James Blois & Ginny Buttry of Cape Girardeau, MO and a sister, Betty Simmers of Advance, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald Ray Buttry.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at the 1st United Methodist Church in Wood River with Pastor Mark Milhouse and Scott Levan officiating.
