Paul Cope, 84, passed away at 4:01 p.m. Monday September 21, 2009 at St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton, IL.
He was born on September 2, 1925 in Otterville, IL. The son of Lester and Blanche (Price) Cope.
Paul married Helen Beuschel on May 5, 1950 at the Otterville Baptist Church in Otterville, IL. She preceded him in death on January 4, 2000.
Paul enjoyed the adventures of being an over the road trucker, he worked for Mc Lain Trucking for over 40 yrs. He was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in E. Alton, Il. where he ushered, and enjoyed playing softball. His special love was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Paul is survived by two daughters; Leslie Hill of Alton, Il and Mona Davis of E. Alton, IL. three grandchildren; Keith Barrow of E. Alton, IL. Rebecca Hill of St.Louis, MO. and Chad Barrow of E. Alton, IL. one great-grandson; David Jeffrey Hill of Alton, Il. and one sister; Gladys Drainer, of Grafton, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Leslie Cope, Mark Cope and Clyde Cope, and one sister; Marian Cope.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Thursday September 24, 2009 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL. Where the funeral service will be conducted on Friday September 25, 2009 at 10 am, with Pastor Dan Powers officiating
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park, in Godfrey, IL. with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308.
Memorials may be made to the 1st United Methodist Church Youth Mission Trips.
