Kelley L. Summers, 64, died at 1:52 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at his home in Alton.
Born June 6, 1945 in Carbondale, IL, he was the son of Lavelle Summers of Marion, IL and the late Laverne Summers. He served a combat tour with the U.S. Army during the Tet Offensive in the Vietnam War. He was an engineer with Owens Illinois Glass in Godfrey.
Besides his mother, surviving is a daughter, Laura Summers McPike and her husband Jack of Edwardsville, a son, Thaddeus Summers of Memphis, TN, and three grandchildren, Jacob Summers, and Brooke and Alexa McPike. He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Reverend Victor Long will officiate. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
