Arthur Ulrich, 85, passed away at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at his home.
Born March 4, 1924 in Williamson, Ill., he was the son of Henry and Clara (Shermer) Ulrich.
He married Genevieve "Sue" Lansdon June 10, 1966 in East Alton. She survives.
A machine adjuster for Olin Corp., he retired in 1987 after 37 years.
The World War II Navy veteran was a former member of the Wood River Moose Lodge 1349 and a member of the Wood River VFW. He loved animals, gardening, and his St. Louis Cardinals.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sandra Bishop of Litchfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Justine Ulrich of Cottage Hills and Christopher and Susan Ulrich of East Alton; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers; and a sister.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the 5 A's Animal Shelter.
