William Traylor

William "Earl" Traylor, 77, passed away at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at his home.
Born Oct. 17, 1931 in Wood River, he was the son of Elmer E. and Katherine (Lemmons) Traylor.
A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, he worked for Laclede Steel as a millwright for 34 years, retiring in 1993.
He married Jacquelyn L. Worsham Jan. 1, 1955 in East Alton. She survives.
A member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Alton, he and his father built several houses in the area. He also was a master at woodworking, making toys for children among other things.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Steve Traylor of Bethalto; 7 grandchildren, Joseph, Clayton, Joshua, Nathan, Stephanie, Lucas and Casey; a great grandson, Zachary; a sister, Kathleen Staton of Ft. Smith, Ark.; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved three dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 17 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where Rick Odle will officiate at services at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 18.
Committal services will full military honors will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 20 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
Memorials may be made to the family, in care of the funeral home.
