Dorothy A. Edgar, 78, passed away at 6:20 pm Saturday June 27, 2009 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO with her family by her side.
She was born on June 20, 1931 in Centralia, IL the daughter of Robert and Faye (Foutch) Butler.
She married her beloved husband Gerald Edgar on March 15, 1951 in Wood River and he preceded her in death on March 4, 2008. They were married 56 years.
Dorothy was a RN and Operating Room Supervisor at Wood River Township hospital for over 33 years and touched many lives as a Candy Stripe coordinator and as a Girl Scout leader with her husband. They enjoyed traveling to many beautiful places. She was a member of the Operating Nurses Organization, Illinois Nurses Association and Girl Scouts of America.
She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Stidham and Laura Malson and her husband Keith Malson all of Rosewood Heights. She celebrated and participated lovingly in the lives of his three beautiful grandchildren: John Michael Stidham of South Roxana, Rachael Zorger and her husband Dan Zorger of Godfrey and "Meme" will be truly missed by Cheyanna Rai Jones of Rosewood Heights. She will also be greatly missed by her great grandson, Elias Stidham & Mikey Newman of South Roxana, & Leif Aren Zorger of Godfrey. She will be sadly missed by her extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda "Kate" Fulgham and Lorrean Greear
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday June 30, 2009 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto where funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday July 1, 2009 with Rev. Martin Shultz officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association.
