Ruth A. Steinberg, 85, went home to be with the Lord, at Alton Memorial Hospital, at 2:35 p.m., on Saturday, January 17, 2009.
Ruth was born September 17, 1923, in Barry, Illinois to Alice Elizabeth (Ekelberger) Hoskins and John Leslie Hoskins.
She married E. Glenn Steinberg on March 2, 1940 in Hadley, Illinois (Pike County). He preceded her in death on February 12, 1975.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Ben Lahey of Bethalto, three grand-children and their spouses, Robyn and Kory Kaufman of Columbia, Missouri, Don and Mary Steinberg of Bethalto, Kelly and Rick Rujawitz of Minooka, Illinois, one daughter-in-law and her husband Jan and Merle McGrevey of Bethalto, Six great-grandchildren, Erin Kaufman, Lauren Kaufman, Andrew Steinberg, Marissa Steinberg, Avery Rujawitz, and Camden Rujawitz, three sister-in-laws and their spouses, Jean and Duane Howland, Helen and Jim Ervin, and Wanda Poston, one niece and her husband Mary K. and Eddie Tite, two great nephews Aaron and Marty Tite, and many great nieces and nephews and many good friends and neighbors.
Besides her parents and husband Ruth was preceded in death by one son Donald D. Steinberg, and a brother Omer (Buddy) Bower.
Services will be conducted at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2009. Visitation will be one hour before services from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Reverend John Tennyson of the Bethalto United Methodist Church will be officiating.
Memorial may be made to the Bethalto United Methodist Church Building Fund.
