Geraldine Sharp

Geraldine “Gerry” Sharp, 91, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, with her loving daughter by her side.

Gerry was born on February 12, 1935, in Bluford, Illinois, to the late Boomer Withrow and Fern Williams. On December 12, 1953, she married Willie Sharp in Bluford, and they shared 69 together before his passing.

Gerry was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She enjoyed crocheting and creating things with her hands, a pastime that brought her many hours of happiness. Gerry was also a faithful member of Mt. Zion General Baptist Chruch in Granite City, Illinois, and a charter member of Prospect General Baptist Church in Wentzville, Missouri.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Renee Sharp; two sisters, Beverly Curry and Renda (Jimmie) Fitzjerrells, sister-in-law Socorro Withrow; as well as extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Gerry was preceded in death by her in-laws, Lloyd (Ruby) Sharp, Cloyd (Ruth) Sharp, Clyde Sharp, James (Sybil) Sharp, Leonard (Elsie) Sharp, Delbert Sharp, Murle Sharp, Pearl Sharp, Oscar Sharp, Mildred (Berle) Hickey, Alma (Charlie) Jourdan, Opal (Loren) Ellis, Clara (Pierce) Coil, Rosa Mae (Warren) Miller, Edna Fae Sharp, Wanda Sharp, Fonda Sharp, and Glenna (Joe) Boozer; as well as Melvin Withrow and Evan Curry.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at New Home (Lowery) Baptist Church in Bluford, Illinois.

A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church. Gerry will be laid to rest following the service at Lowery Cemetery.

Gerry will be remembered for her love of family, her faith, and the many cherished memories she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
