Gail Scott

Gail Ann Scott, age 77 of Collinsville, Il, born October 12, 1944, in Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on December 17, 2021.

Gail graduated from Niagara Falls High School.  She met the love of her life, William A. Scott (known as "Bill" or “Scotty”) while he was stationed in New York with the Air Force and they married on April 3, 1965, in Niagara Falls. They settled in Collinsville, IL, and raised their family.  She worked as a legal secretary for 25 years before retiring and was a member of the Troy United Methodist Church.

Gail’s heart was full with the extended family and friends she had in her life.  She enjoyed line dancing, playing Bunco, going to the casino, and crossword puzzles.  Most of all, Gail loved spending time with her friends and family.  Gail lived a life filled with love, compassion, kindness, and a devotion to all those blessed to know her sweet soul. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mary Grace (nee Rice) Thompson; and her 7-week old infant daughter, Susan Scott.

Surviving is her loving husband of 56 years, William A. Scott; two children:  Glenn A. (Elizabeth) Scott of O’Fallon, IL and Stacy L. (Robert) Swift of Troy, IL; seven grandchildren:  Robert E. Swift, Jr., Keith A. Swift, Ryan A. Swift, Alexis P. Scott, Julia E. Roy, Brenden P. Bollmeier, and Madyson C. Scott; three sisters:  Carolyn Pope of CO, Brenda (Don) Saunders of VA, and Janet (Dave) Geandreau of NY; sister by heart, Irene (Paul) Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL.  Due to current state restrictions, masks are required to be worn.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at the funeral home with David Roderick officiating.  Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gail’s honor to the Ministries Unlimited Food Pantry in Troy, IL, or the American Diabetes Association and will be received at the funeral home.
