Lillian Phyllis Sedlacek, 85, of Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away at Liberty Village in Maryville at 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021.

She was born November 20, 1935, in East Chicago, Indiana, a daughter of the late Adam and Pauline (Czyzniejewski) Jelski. She married Robert Joseph “Tomato Man” Sedlacek on January 21, 1992, in Stuart, Florida and he passed away on January 10, 2020. She worked at the Knights of Columbus in Maryville with many years of dedicated service as a manager. Lillian was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Edwardsville and attended St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon. She enjoyed her days of reading, playing bingo, bowling, camping and was a Girl Scout leader throughout the years.

She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with family and friends. She is survived by step-children, Steve Sedlacek of Glen Carbon, Laurie Askew of Glen Carbon and Tina (Bill) Lundak of Glen Carbon; daughter-in-law, Kathy Sedlacek of Glen Carbon; daughter, Tina (Michael) Reck of Kouts, Indiana; son, Eric Brainer of Barnhart, Missouri; a sister, Evelyn Nelson of Stuart, Florida; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other extended family and many friends.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by step-children, Mark Sedlacek, Donna Sedlacek, Dennie Sedlacek; stepdaughter-in-law, Deena Sedlacek; son, Gene Brainer and two brothers, Adam E. Jelski and Raymond Jelski.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Sunday, November 21, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Edwardsville on Monday, November 22, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Robert Jallas as celebrant. Private burial will be at Buck Road Cemetery in Maryville. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Jack Graichen Memorial Chapter #90 in Glen Carbon, and may be accepted at the funeral home. www.irwinchapel.com
