Edward Fridrich

Edward Roy “Fred” Fridrich, 77, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 6:35 a.m. on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, Illinois.

He was born April 15, 1943 in Portland, Oregon, a son of the late Edward Victor and Harriet (Keck) Fridrich. He married Judith Ann (Moore) Fridrich on February 24, 1968 in San Antonio, Texas and she passed away on January 3, 2014.

He later married Rosemary M. (Scholl) Fridrich on November 12, 2016 at Calvary Life Church in Granite City and she survives. The United States veteran proudly served his country with the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Fred retired from the United States Air Force in 1981 after 20 years of dedicated service in logistics. After his retirement from the Air Force, he began a 35 year career in base supply with the Civil Service at Scott Air Force Base, retiring in 2017. Throughout his life, he loved participating in many sports and cherished his days with the Senior Olympics. He collected coins, was a fan of the former St. Louis Rams, traveling, enjoyed his lifetime of working and serving his country. Fred lived his life to the fullest, always stayed active, cherished his family and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Robin Fridrich of St. Louis, Vicki (Lyle Walker) Felker of Seattle, Washington and Michael Fridrich of St. Louis; five step-children, Carolyn Ann (Bruce) Vinson of Granite City, Diane (Bruce) Kinworthy of Granite City, Cindy Vinson of Edwardsville, Michael (Melissa Winkle) Causey of Granite City and James Causey of Granite City; four grandchildren, Tricia (Jason) Cagle, Jacob (Kaitlin) Walker, Matthew Felker and Timothy Felker; seven step-grandchildren, Nathan (Maria) Vinson, Cassie (Phillip) Levereth, Shane Vinson, Sarah (Kevin) Meurs, Nicholas Kinworthy, Anthony Kinworthy and Michael Causey Jr.; many great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; a sister, Dodie (Larry) Vandiver of Texas; other extended family and friends.

In celebration of his life, a visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 9:00 a.m. with Reverend Mark Maynard officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
