Esther Buehlman

Alton |

Esther Buehlman, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the home of family with loved ones at her side.

Born Oct. 17, 1927 in East Alton, she was the daughter of Edward and Agnes (Allred) Taylor.

She married her soulmate and love of her life, John O. Buehlman July 7, 1949 in East Alton.  He passed away in 1986.

Survivors include two sons and their spouses, John and Nikki Buehlman of St. Louis, MO and Edward and Debbie Buehlman of Alton. She was blessed with four grandchildren and their spouses, Matt and Stacy Buehlman of Florida, Lisa (Mark) Watsek of Fosterburg, Michael Buehlman of Godfrey, and Jacob and Candace Buehlman of Alton.  She also had seven great grandchildren, who gave her great joy, Bryce, Logan and Mason, sons of Matt and Stacy, Kylie and Jordan, daughters of Lisa and Mark, Ella and Paige, daughters of Michael, and Arlo Buehlman, son of Jacob and Candace; and a brother, Robert D. Taylor of San Diego, CA.

Esther also had extended family at the Godfrey Church of Christ.  She was one of the founding members of the church and has remained very active and involved in its ministry.  Esther is considered to be the cornerstone of that congregation and is loved and respected by all members, both young and old.

Esther also made a family at her recent home, Hillcrest Apartments in Alton.  She has made many loving relationships with numerous residents and has forever changed their lives. She has been a pillar of strength, love, and encouragement to anyone who had the honor and privilege to know her.  She had a special gift to give love unconditionally, listen and give sound advice, and lift the spirits of anyone in any conversation.  She has been a true, lasting and loyal friend to all.

The family will hold services on Saturday, May 19 at the Godfrey Church of Christ.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until services begin at noon.

In lieu of flowers, Esther requests memorials be made to Christian Family Services, BJC Hospice, or her church.
