Patricia L. “Patty” Higdon, 64, passed away at 9:05pm on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at her residence. She was born on December 16, 1953, in Alton, the daughter of the late Ellsworth and Mary (Murphy) Speed. She married Fred L. Higdon on November 21, 1972, in Alton, and he preceded her in death on April 30, 2008. Survivors include a daughter and son in law: Carly and Styles Baker of Glen Carbon, a son and daughter in law: Clay and Christine Higdon of South Roxana, two grandchildren: Jackson and Josie Higdon, three sisters and two brothers in law: Lynette Berigan of Alton, Diane “DeDe” and Bill Hauser of Memphis, Tennessee, Maureen and Bruce Swiney of Arnold, Missouri, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
Patty was employed at Olin Corp for forty years as a Sr. Systems Administrator. She enjoyed knitting, crafting, reading, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandkids.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
